Obituary for Paul A. Novak

Paul Alan Novak was born January 25, 1957, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Louis and Joyce (Specht) Novak. He passed away September 27, 2019, at his home in Craig, NE.

Paul grew up on a farm near Rosalie, NE. He graduated from High School and in 1975 joined the United States Air Force. Paul was honorably discharged in 1976 and on June 26, 1976 he married Joni Hawkins. To this union were born three children: Jason, MeLinda and Erika. Every year until the kids were teens, they would take a trip to Minnesota for fishing and family fun. It would be Paul’s family, his parents and his brother (Jon) and sister (Wanda). They would all stay in the same cabin and often the breakfast conversation would be about Paul, his dad and Jason snoring and talking in their sleep.

He also loved working at the Tiger Bowl in Tekamah. His family spent many years bowling and working there. Paul enjoyed the time there and his family did too.

Paul spent a lot of time working at Joni Renshaw’s with all the flowers. Whether it was planting, weeding or just building and fixing her planter boxes.

Paul enjoyed bowling, fishing, computer games, gardening, woodworking and most of all his grandkids and family.

Everyone in the surrounding area could always tell when Paul was near because of his so ever loved laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joni; son-in-law, Matt Osmera; and many aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his children: Jason (Michelle) Novak, MeLinda Osmera, Erika (Mat) Pickell all of Craig; grandchildren: Payton, Preston, Liam, Gus, Shelby, Morgan, Miles, Jayda, Kirstie, Patrick; brother, Jon Novak; sister, Wanda Novak; and many extended family.
