Obituary for Michael "Mike" McClure

Michael Gordon McClure, known as “Papa”, was born June 11, 1950, in Onawa, Iowa, to Gordon and Alice (Mohn) McClure. He passed away September 11, 2019, surrounded by family, in the comfort of his own home.

Mike spent most of his childhood in Tekamah, Nebraska before moving to Blencoe, Iowa. He graduated in 1968, from West Monona High School in Onawa.

Mike married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Allene Frisk, on June 20, 1971. They made their home in Tekamah and were proud parents of two children, Michelle and Chad.

Mike was the manager of the meat department at Save More Market and Jack & Jill in Tekamah, where he loved his customers. Mike had a special talent in art and started his own part time business, McClure Signs, as a sign painter. After years of meat cutting, Mike became a chemical manager at P & W, Inc. in Tekamah.

Mike loved fishing and hunting. He spent many years hunting with his son and fishing with his buddies. He was a member of the Tekamah Fire and Rescue for 17 years. Mike was best known for his kind heart, his great sense of humor and his love and passion for his wife and family. His greatest blessings were his five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Danny McClure.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Michelle McClure Rife of Tekamah; son, Chad McClure of Decatur, NE; granddaughters: Siarah Langley of Bennington, NE, Madelynn Uhing of Omaha, NE, Shyenne Langley of Tekamah, Jayla Rife of Tekamah; grandson, Jaxton Rife of Tekamah; brother, Pat (Reva) McClure of Ocean Shores, WA, Tim (Caroline) McClure of Humboldt, NE; sister, Kelly (Wayne) Funk of Lincoln, NE; sister, Kristi (Paul) Giesman of Oak Harbor, WA; brother, Jeff McClure of Blencoe; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
