Obituary for Matthew Lee Osmera

Matthew Lee Osmera was born November 17, 1973, to Robert and Sandy (LaScala) Osmera in Omaha, Nebraska. He passed away June 5, 2019 at his home in Omaha.

Matt married MeLinda Novak on October 31, 2006 in Papillion, Nebraska. To this marriage was born one child, Gus. Matt and MeLinda were married for 13 years, together for 23 years. Many people asked how they made marriage look so easy. Matt’s reply was, “Find someone that can tolerate your crap.” He was very difficult, but very loving, at the same time.

Matt enjoyed his internet/online games and Facebook. He loved heavy metal music, especially Megadeath – “Can’t Die Dead Enough”, Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne. He and their friends taught MeLinda to be a pretty good mechanic. Matt also enjoyed La Casa’s homemade spaghetti, Whoppers and Village Inn pie.

Matt also liked teaching their son, Gus, how to plant a garden; teaching how to care for his plants and tools. He taught Gus how to play computer games. They would play Battlefield and Gus would ask Matt, “Where is my ‘Dummy’?” Matt would reveal himself and Gus would snipe him out of nowhere. He taught Gus to shoot; they would sit at Paul’s picnic table and shoot a pellet gun.

“We had a very bumpy ride in the 23 years we were together. It was all worth it. He was my love of a lifetime.” - MeLinda

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy Osmera; uncle, Sonny LaScala; mother-in-law, Joni Novak.

He is survived by his wife, MeLinda; son, Gus; father-in-law, Paul Novak.
