Obituary for Elsie M. Fugman

Elsie Mae Fugman July 17,1930 - July 28, 2019

We do not know how humans would have left this world had sin not entered the world. As it is, our sin and a perfect God brings about the separation of body and soul at bodily death. For Christians the final terror of death is abolished by the act on the cross of Jesus the Christ. Jesus, the Risen Savior, Himself passed through a terrible death, taking God's judgment of those upon Himself who have faith in Him, to free us from terror as we leave this trying, temporary place for the peaceful, perfect place Jesus has prepared for the faithful.

Elsie Mae Fugman is one of the faithful. Born in Chicago IL, we have seen her faith in goodness, in God and in her marriage to her square dancing husband, our father, George and in their life in Peoria IL and Mesa AZ. We have experienced her faith in goodness in her being our den mother in Cub Scouts. We have experienced her faith in goodness in talking Dad into buying a boat so we could learn to enjoy weekends together as a family on the river, love the water and learn to water ski. We have experienced her faith in our talents as she encouraged us to go into music as both trumpet and woodwind players and as baseball players, going to baseball game after baseball game to cheer us on as her sons. Elsie even taught us how to discern what is a Bible believing church congregation with a gracious pastor reaching out to people for Jesus.

Elsie's daughter-in-law stood next to Elsie's bed in the hospital last month and heard Elsie proclaim that Jesus was standing at the foot of her hospital bed. No doubt He was.

Elsie Mae Fugman was preceded in death by her husband George Fugman, parents, Josiah and Leila Meister, and her sisters Barbara Allen and Wanda Ferguson. Elsie has three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sharon Fugman of Decatur NE, Joel and Sharon Fugman of Peoria IL, Tim and Cathy Fugman of Redmond WA, three grandchildren Virginia, Jacob and Sarah Fugman and two great grandchildren Dario and Luka Trahan.
