Darlene M. Young

1928 ~ 2008

 

DARLENE MAE (CLIMER) YOUNG, 79 years of Oakland, Nebraska, formerly of Pender, passed on to her heavenly home Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Oakland Mercy Hospital.

Darlene was born October 6, 1928, in Winnebago, Nebraska, to Claude D. and Frances (Johnson) Climer. graduated from Oakland High School in 1945.

On July 8, 1945, Darlene and Stanley N. Young were united in mariage at the United Methodist Church in Pender, Nebraska.

Darlene was an endeared member and friend of the Evangelical Free Church in Oakland, where she spent much time fellowshipping, teaching and caring for all those around her.

She will be remembered for her tremendous strength, her love of mankind, animals, the Rocky Mountains, reading, her talents in music, art, gardening and pumpkin pie and of course her beautiful never-ending smile! She looked forward to any and all family gatherings especially Christmas.

She was preceded in death by her precious parents: Claude and Frances (Johnson) Climer; her wonderful brothers: Don and Verne Climer; grandson: Troy Young; and great grandson: James Whittamore.

Darlene leaves behind her beloved family including her husband of 63 years: Stan of Oakland; sons and daughters-in-law: Doug and Faye of Omaha, Nebraska, Alan and Betty of Kearney, Nebraska Steve and Karen of Rawlins, Wyoming; daughters and sons-in-law; Sharon and Bob Schanou of Shelton, Nebraska, Diane and Dan Troyer of Milford, Nebraska, Barb and Jim Novak of Overland Park, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Eva Climer of Lyons, Nebraska, Sally Climer of Hartington, Nebraska and Corrine Metz of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother-in-law: Philip Young and Betty of Kent, Washington; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and Fluffy, her precious dog.

A SERVICE OF REMEMBERENCE AND CELEBRATION: Thursday, July 10, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Oakland, Nebraska.

VISITATION: Wednesday, July 9, 2008, from 1 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 - 8 p.m. all at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will also be held Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church
