DONNA MAE WIESE was born October 24, 1928, In Albion, Nebraska, to Berle and Lena (Schroeder) Berthelsen. She passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Waverly Care Center in Waverly after a brief illness, at the age of 82 years. Donna grew up on a farm near Albion and attended Albion Public Schools through her sophomore year. The family moved to a farm near Scribner and she completed her high school education in Scribner in 1945. She then attended Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, and graduated in 1946. On February 22, 1948, Donna was married to Irvin Wiese at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. They lived on a farm west of Lyons until 1990 when she moved into Lyons. Donna was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft and Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary, Westside Aid, Liberty Club, and Burt County Extension Club. Farming, her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her whole life. Donna worked as a teacher’s aide at the Lyons Public School, and as a librarian at the Lyons Public Library. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irvin in 1988; son, Jon in 1976; and sister, Ruth Porter. Survivors include her children, David Wiese and Jean of High Point, North Carolina, Ruth Wiese and LaShon Skuta of Richmond, Virginia, Dan Wiese and Janet of Waverly, Nebraska, Jim Wiese and Kathy of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mary Kaufman and Dennis of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren, Ryan Wiese and Gentri, Jeff Wiese and Kristen, Tim Wiese, Sara Wiese and Brian, Anthony Wiese, Jessica Karlen and Matthew, Nathan Wiese and Laura, Nichols Wiese and Megan, Nathan Yosten, Ryan Harbaugh, Parker Harbaugh, Emily Kaufman, Graham Kaufman; great-grandchildren, Addison Wiese, Maggie Johnson, Elijah Karlen, Cayden Wiese, Avery Wiese, and Gavin Harbaugh. FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, July 27, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons. VISITATION: Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
