JAN MARIE WICKSTROM was born April 4, 1951 in Oakland, Nebraska, to Harland “Lindy” and Milly (Miller) Wickstrom. She passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the Green Gables residence in Montomedi, Minnesota, following a progressive decline, at the age of 59 years.

Jan grew up in Paullina, Iowa and Willmar, Minnesota. After her graduation from Willmar High School, she attended the University of Minnesota Morris and the University of Minnesota Medical School. With deep compassion for people and abiding interest in their lives, she entered the Bethesda Family Medicine Program in St. Paul, Minnesota and became a family physician. Very early in her medical career she suffered a life-changing head injury, the innocent victim of a high-speed auto chase. Although she recovered physically, Dr. Wickstrom was unable to resume the practice of medicine. She resided in St. Paul for many years until moving to Montomedi last year.

She is remembered for her warmth, joyous laughter and remarkable perseverance in the face of difficulty.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Milly; grandparents, Walter and Mary Miller, Harry and Maud Wickstrom; stepbrother, Charles Tibbetts and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Lindy “Harland” and Alvera Wickstrom of Brookings, SD; brothers, Jeff (Sandra) Wickstrom of Colleyville, TX, Harry Wickstrom of Aurora, Co; stepsisters, Cynthia Tibbetts (John Fraiser) Calgary, Alberta, Debra (Jim) Thompson of Katy, TX; stepbrother, John (Kristine Christensen) Tibbetts of Harve, MT; aunts, uncles, many nieces and nephews and cousins.
