STEPHEN L UEHLING was born May 14, 1948 at Oakland, Nebraska to Orville and Arwilda (Lowe) Uehling. He passed away Monday, January 26, 2009, at his home in Uehling, Nebraska, at the age of 60 years.

Stephen graduated from Uehling High School in 1966, Norfolk Junior College in 1968 and Midland College in 1971. He taught and coached at Fremont Bergan and Doniphan until 1984, when he moved to Uehling and continued his crop insurance business.

Stephen was a member and former trustee of the United Church of Christ, former Uehling Fireman and served on the Rescue Squad, former Lions Club member, past Civil Defense Director, former Mayor of Uehling, former Uehling Labor Day Celebration chairman, past Uehling Foundation board member and past Friends of Uehling board member.

Stephen’s five golden retrievers were his best friends all with the name of Heidi.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors included his brothers: Russell (Joyce) Uehling of Fremont, Nebraska, Douglas (Marcia) Uehling of Almena, Kansas; niece: Leha Uehling ofEagle River, Alaska; nephews: Scott (Amy) Uehling of, Papillion, NE, Keith Uehling of Overland Park, Kansas; great niece: Addisyn Uehling.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 31, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church/UCC in Uehling

VISITATION: Friday 1 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will also be held Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Uehling Cemetery, rural Uehling, Nebraska.

MEMORIALS: Uehling Centennial Monument Fund or the First Congregational Church/UCC
