“MICK” MARVIN HENRY TIETJEN, JR. was born February 24, 1941, in Oakland, Nebraska to Marvin H. and Ann (Schneider) Tietjen. He passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 67 years. Mick was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Lyons. He attended Oakland High School and served in the US Navy. On August 18, 1962, Mick and Anita Rabe were united in marriage at Uehling, Nebraska. They had two sons, Marty and Kent. They lived in South Sioux City, Nebraska for 35 years. He was employed by Armour Packing Company. Mick was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa. Mick enjoyed golfing, yard work, bird watching and having coffee with his friends. He especially enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his grandchildren and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Marty; father-in-law: Willis Rabe and sister-in-law: Judy Tietjen. Survivors include his wife, Anita of South Sioux City; son: Kent also of South Sioux City; two grandchildren: Gage and Laiken Tietjen; brother: Steve Tietjen of Sedalia, Colorado; sister and brother-in-law: Marilyn and Dr. Rex Fischer of Manhattan, Kansas; mother-in-law: Muriel Rabe of Oakland, Nebraska; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Randy and Sharon Rabe of Greer, South Carolina, Barry Rabe of Oakland, Carrie Skaff of Wichita, Kansas. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, June 21, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3204 S. Lakeport Street, Sioux City, Iowa. VISITATION: Friday, June 20, 2008, 5-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons, Nebraska. Visitation will also be held Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. BURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS: Saturday, June 21, 2008, 1:30 p.m. at Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Nebraska. Military Honors by Robert Klase VFW Post No. 7998 and Harvey Lenig American Legion Post No. 83 THE FAMILY REQUESTS NO FLOWERS.
