Dorothy D. Taylor

DOLLIE DOROTHY (HARMER) TAYLOR was born January 11, 1918 to Everett and Rachel (Bonham) Harmer at their home in Waterbury, Dakota County, Nebraska. She passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Logan Valley Manor in Lyons, Nebraska.

On December 14, 1935 Dorothy was united in marriage to Harve Raymond Taylor in Pender, Nebraska. To this union five children were born: Harvetta, Nora Mae, Mary June, Brenda and Lonnie Joe. They made their home in Decatur, Nebraska until moving to Lyons in 1952.

Dorothy was baptized and confirmed in the Decatur United Methodist Church. In 1953, she transferred her membership to the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons, where she was a very active member.

Dorothy had a life-long passion for sewing. She made many beautiful clothes for her children and others. Later in life, she and Harve made many items for the United Methodist Women Mission projects, such as quilts, school kits, blankets for AIDS babies and health kits for Epworth Village.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Nora Mae Dahlgren; son: Lonnie Joe; sons-in-law: Dale Olson, Sr. and Darrell Dahlgren; granddaughter Joedean Marie Olson; grandson: Daniel Everett Olson; great granddaughter: Veronica Collins; and brother: Charles Harmer.

Survivors include her husband of 73 years: Harve of Lyons; daughters: Harvetta Olson of Lyons, Mary (Harold) Luedert of Fremont, Nebraska, Brenda (Jack) Pettit of Sacramento, California; daughter-in-law: Deborah Taylor of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska; sisters: Mildred Edgington of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Everetta (Donald) Bonneau of Henderson, Nevada; Evelyn Morgan of Decatur, Nebraska; brother: Sam (Linda) Harmer of Tekamah, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, December 24, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons, Nebraska.

VISITATION: Tuesday, December 23, 2008, 1 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 - 8 p.m. all at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons. Visitation will also be held Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

BURIAL: Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, Nebraska
