MARCELLA ANN SVENDSEN was born June 27, 1935, in rural Walthill, Nebraska, to Michael and Mildred (Heise) McKeegan.  She passed away Friday, November 5, 2010, at the age of 75 years.

Marcella was baptized in the Walthill Catholic Church. She attended country school and graduated from Walthill High School in 1952. She moved to Lyons, where she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for five years.

On December 3, 1957, Marcella married Don William Svendsen at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons. To this union five children were born:  Deb, Dave, Pam, Joe and Lyn. They farmed for many years and she was employed at North Star for many years until her retirement. Marcella was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Marcella was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister.

Survivors include her husband, Don of Lyons, NE; children and their spouses, Deb and Charlie Olson of Bancroft, NE, Dave and Tammy Svendsen of Pierce, NE, Pam and Roger Servold of Mead, CO, Joe and Julie Svendsen of Lyons, NE, Lyn and Kent Steinmeyer of Bancroft, NE; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

FUNERAL MASS:  Tuesday, November 9, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons.

VISITATION:  Monday, November 8, 4 – 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at the church. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
