TOM GERALD SEBADE of Fremont, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008, in Fremont, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 72 years. Tom was born May 23, 1936, in rural Thurston County, Nebraska, to Henry and Anna (Frey) Sebade. He graduated from Emerson High School in 1954 and attended Barber College in Sioux City, Iowa. On October 28, 1956, Tom married high school classmate, Marlice J. Zastrow, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. Tom served in the US Army from September 1958 to June 1960 with time served in Korea. Tom barbered in Albion, Nebraska, for a short time before establishing a lengthy barbering career in Oakland, Nebraska, for a total of 47 years. Tom served his communities in many ways: Jaycee President in Albion; Worshipful Master, Associate Bethel Guardian of Job’s Daughters, Worthy Patron, Chamber of Commerce President all in Oakland. Tom served on the Oakland Progress Board and was Chairman for many years. He also served as the Burt County Fair Parade Chairman for over thirty years. Tom served on the church council of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland and the First Lutheran Church in Fremont, where he was an active member. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Geraldine Ziesler; brother: Eugene Sebade; brothers-in-law: Darold Thomsen, Daryl Ziesler and Earl Johnson. Survivors include his wife: Marlice of Fremont; daughter and son-in-law: Renae and Alan Johnson of Oakland; sons and daughters-in-law: Kevin and Marilyn of Lindsay, Texas, Todd and Jessica of Columbus, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Aaron, Nathan and Natalie Johnson, Matthew and Lucas Sebade; brother and sister-in-law: Densil and LaDonna Sebade of Emerson; sisters: Violet Johnson and Esther Thomsen both of Pender, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, August 25, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 3200 E. Military St., Fremont, Nebraska. MILITARY HONORS: VFW Ryan Post No. 5543, American Legion Post No. 46 VISITATION: Sunday, August 24, 2008, 4 - 8 p.m.with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service followed by Masonic Rites by Masonic Lodge No. 91, A.
