GERALD C. “JERRY” ROBERTSON, 78 years of Arizona, died September 17, 2008. He was born February 6, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Glen and Theora Robertson of Lyons, Nebraska. Jerry attended the University of Nebraska, where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Upon graduation, he served as a First Lieutenant in the infantry during the Korean War and following an honorable discharge, became a member of the VFW and The American Legion. He earned a bachelors degree at UNL and a Masters of Foreign Trade from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona. Following graduate school he was employed by the American Can Company, where he lived in New York City and San Juan, Puerto Rico as Sales Manager of the Caribbean. His international and domestic experiences with Ball Corporation lead to his future career as President and CEO of Robertson Associates Manufacturing Inc. of Denver, Colorado. This was the first independent manufacturing plant in the country to mass produce beverage can tops (lids). RAMI went international when Jerry opened a second manufacturing plant in Cardiff, Wales (UK). He sold both manufacturing plants in 1996 and spent his retirement in Evergreen, Colorado and Scottsdale, Arizona. Survivors include his wife of 55 years: Darlene; son: Charles Robertson of San Diego and daughter: Amy Robertson of Bloomington, Indiana; aunt: Verval Rogers of Lyons, brother and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Dottie Robertson of Tekamah, Nebraska; nephews and niece: Bruce, Clark and Jane; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Gayle and Sharon McQuistan. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: Sunday, September 28, 2008, 1:30 p.m. at the Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Nebraska, with Rev. Mark Eldal officiating. MILITARY HONORS:Robert Klase VFW Post No. 7998 and Harvey Lenig American Legion Post No. 83. MEMORIALS: Alzheimer's Assoc., P.O. Box 8462, Chicago, IL 60680 A Memorial Service will be held in Scottsdale, AZ on Monday, September 29, 2008, 3 p.m. at the Messinger Funeral Home.
