Richard Raver

1932 ~ 2011

RICHARD S. RAVER, Long-time Bellevue, Nebraska Educator

Richard Samuel Raver was born August 25, 1932, to George and Betty (Snare) Raver in a small house in Craig, Nebraska.  He passed away October 10, 2011, in Bellevue, Nebraska, at the age of 79 years.

During Richard’s first 6 years, he lived on a small 40-acre farm just outside of Craig before moving into the Craig city limits.  He received his elementary and high school education from the Craig Public Schools, graduating from high school in 1950 with a class size of 19 students.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War.  In 1956, after serving two years, he was honorably discharged and began his life’s work as a public secondary teacher.  He taught for a total of 35 years. During this time, he received his MA degree in education. Thirty of the 35 years were spent in Bellevue Public Schools. Richard retired in the spring of 1992.

Richard enjoyed Husker football and fishing. He had a love for cars and attending local and regional car shows.

He considered himself very blessed to have two very fine parents and to grow up in an outstanding small town like Craig.  Bellevue, where he did the majority of his teaching, he also considered an outstanding community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Ronald Raver; three nephews and two nieces.

Survivors include his older brother, Roger Raver and his wife, Sue, of Craig, NE; sisters-in-law, Joyce Raver of Tekamah, NE, and Karen Raver of Cheney, WA; nieces and nephews.

BURIAL:  Craig, Cemetery
