REX  M. POSVAR of Rosalie, Nebraska passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, in his home.  He was 82 years old. 

Rex was born April 3, 1928, on the family farm east of Pender to Henry and Mabel (Freel) Posvar.  Rex was the oldest of five children.  He graduated from Pender High School in 1945 and married Arlene Jeanette Hansen in 1950 in Stanton, Nebraska.  To this union nine children were born.  Rex farmed for several years with his father until 1966 when he, Arlene and their family moved to Rosalie.  In the early years at Rosalie, Rex worked for Twyford Trucking operating the corn sheller and driving truck.  In 1978, Rex went to work for Thurston County as a motor grader operator.  For the next twenty-eight years Rex maintained the roads of Thurston County with great skill and pride, retiring in 2006.  A hard worker all his life, Rex’s favorite passion however was square dancing and square dance calling.  For seventeen years, Rex traveled all over including Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and Minnesota calling square dancing events in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.  Rex also traveled sharpening discs for area farmers retiring from that service this past spring.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mabel (Freel) Posvar; brother, Arvid Posvar and great granddaughter, Tayiah Posvar.

 Rex is survived by his wife, Arlene of sixty years; children, Janet (Jim) Wortman of Yutan, NE, Roxien (Larry) Klintworth of Kansas City, MO, Kelvin (Lori) Posvar of Wayne, NE, Gayle (Sandie) Posvar of Lyons, NE,  Kristine (David) Zeeb  of Las Vegas, NV, Norene (Randy) Stromberg of Lyons,  Craig (Diane) Posvar of Winchester, CA, Kae (Ron) Daberkow of Lyons, Fae (Andy) Fuston of Lyons.  Rex’s legacy will live on through his twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren. Rex is also survived by his siblings,  Janene (Leo) Hunt, CO, Kay (Bev) Posvar, AZ, Renee (Lee) Floman, AZ.

 PRIVATE FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, September 2, 2010, in Lyons.

VISITATION: Friends of Rex, Arlene, and the family are welcome to take part in a celebration of Rex’s life on Wednesday, September 1st from 1pm to 8pm with family in attendance from 5 pm until 8 pm at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons.   

BURIAL: Bancroft Cemetery
