KEITH D. "TIM" PIPER, 69 years, of Oakland, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at West Point Living Center, West Point, Nebraska. Keith Dale Piper was born September 18, 1939 at Walthill, Nebraska to Clarence and Lois (Barker) Piper. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1957. Keith entered the U. S. Army in January 1961. He completed basic training at Fort Riley and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood before going overseas. He served with the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany, where he qualified as an expert marksman. He was honorably discharged in January 1964. On March 3, 1966, Keith was united in marriage to Theresa “Diane” Lunden. Keith worked for Jayhawk Boxes, Holiday Gas Station and Schweser’s Department Sore in Fremont. He also worked for the Oakland Clearance Store and at the Hillside Dehy near Uehling. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter: Sarah Scoles and her husband, Brad of Oakland; son: Timothy Piper and granddaughter Caitlin of West Point, Nebraska; brother: Terry Piper of Scribner, Nebraska and sister: Carole Bjorklund and her husband, Mike of Plattsmouth. FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, March 23, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. MILITARY HONORS: American Legion Post No. 46 and Ryan VFW Post No. 5543 BURIAL: Private Family Burial VISITATION: Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home MEMORIALS: American Cancer Society
