VICKIE LYNNE PETERSON, the daughter of Ronald and Irene (Fair) Schriner, was born on August 20, 1956, in Hastings, Nebraska.  She passed away July 20, 2008, at her home in Tekamah, Nebraska, after a battle with cancer at the age of 51 years.

Vickie was born and raised in south central Nebraska. During her childhood, she devoted much of her time to 4-H and horse shows. Vickie graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1974.   After graduation, she enrolled at Kearney State, where she spent three years working and going to school to become a Physical Education Teacher.  She would later find her true calling, following her mother’s footsteps into The Farm Service Agency.

On March 28, 1981, Vickie married Rick Peterson in Red Cloud, Nebraska. They had three children: CJ, Megan, and Tyler. They lived in various areas until finally ending up in Tekamah.

Vickie began working for the Farm Service Agency in Webster County and was later moved to the Franklin County Agency, where she spent many years before finally working up to County Executive Director of Burt County in 2002. While in Franklin, she was a member of the Red Cloud American Legion Auxiliary Post #238, and was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church until her job moved her to their current home in Tekamah.

Vickie had two passions in life, her family and her work.  She spent many years perfecting them both, but whether it was chatting with her daughter, or possibly dealing with those rowdy men, or working with all the farmers, she loved them all.

Vickie was preceded in death by her grandparents: Johnie and Elsie Fair, Art and Ella Schriner; father-in-law: Harold “Cub” Peterson, and brother-in-law: Clayton Kepler.

Survivors include her husband Rick Peterson of Tekamah; her children: Christopher and Taryn Peterson of Omaha, NE, Megan Peterson and Tyler Peterson  both of Vermillion, SD; her parents: Ronald and Irene Schriner of Blue Hill, NE; sisters: Virginia Kepler of Bassett, NE, Jody Schriner of Blue Hill; brother and sister-in-law: Steve and Deanne Schriner of Kearney, NE; mother-in-law: Norma June Peterson of Red Cloud;  sister- and brother-in-law: Ramona and Doug Kluth of Columbus, NE; brother- and sister-in-law: Ron and Robin Peterson of Red Cloud; many nieces and nephews; extended family members and host of friends.

VISITATION: Wednesday 1 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, July 24, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 210 South 12th Street, Tekamah, Nebraska and Friday, July 25, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 802 N Franklin Street, Red Cloud, Nebraska.

BURIAL: Red Cloud City Cemetery, Red Cloud, Nebraska
