JANICE ELAINE (UHING) PETERSEN was born September 6, 1941, at Oakland, Nebraska, to Eugene B. and Helen M. (Newell) Uhing. She passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont at the age of 69 years. Janice grew up in the Craig area, graduating from Tekamah H.S. in 1959. She worked at Campbell Soup in Fremont in the early 1960's, Shar-Lo Homes in Tekamah in the early 1970's and retired from Pendleton Woolen Mills in Fremont after 25 years of service as a sewer and presser. She married Stephen R. Petersen in 1970. They divorced in 1976. She lived in the Fremont area for the last 38 years, a resident of Nye Legacy for the past 2 years and Merrick Manor prior to that. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Roland Uhing. Survivors include her daughter, Lori L. Uhing of Fremont; brothers, Harold Sr and Evadine Uhing of Papillion, Nebraska; Ronald Uhing of Ava, Missouri; sisters, Sandra (Jack) Ibsen of Indianapolis, Indiana, Karen (Marlin) Nelson of Ava, Missouri; sister-in-law, Alice Jo (Mrs. Roland) Uhing of Tekamah and numerous nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Friday, January 14, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah, NE. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the Tekamah Cemetery.
