Carroll E. Pearson

1930 ~ 2008

CARROLL EUGENE PEARSON was born on August 4, 1930, south of Craig, Nebraska on his grandparents' farm  to Edwin and Ruth (Monson) Pearson. He passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at the Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska at the age of 78 years.

Carroll attended several country schools in the Craig area and graduated from Craig High School in 1947.  He farmed with his uncle, Rueben, until he entered the Air Force in 1951.  When he was honorably discharged in August 1955, he returned home to farm. Carroll loved farming and his livestock until he had to give it up due to ill health.  One of his favorite things to do was taking a drive to the farm even when he couldn’t drive himself any more.

On June 21, 1957, Carroll married Mary Alice Grenier in Oakland.

Carroll was on many boards and was active in the community. He served on the Farmers Coop board for several years, the school board, the church board, and one of his favorite, the Burt Co Fair Board for over 30 years. In 2006, he received the Joe Roh Award for distinguished service. Carroll was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. He was also a member of the Craig American Legion Post No. 127 and the Ryan VFW Post No. 5543 in Oakland.

Carroll enjoyed his family, rarely missing a sporting or 4-H activity in which his children and grandchildren were involved.  He was anticipating the next generation starting these activities. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

Carroll was active in AA and served as treasurer for many of those years. He was a help to many people in the organization and was loved by all of them. The day before his death, he received his 20 year chip with tears in his eyes.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather and a sister-in-law: La Rita Lindstrom.
