EVELYN FAYE MUSSACK was born on February 25, 1923, to Harley and Blanche (Wildman) McCluskey on the family farm south of Decatur, Nebraska. She passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008, at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa, at the age of 85 years.

Evelyn attended Riverside School and graduated from high school in 1941. She graduated from Dana College with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and taught in a variety of one-room schools in and around Burt and Thurston counties in the early 1940s.

On October 4, 1944, Evelyn married Roy Alvin Mussack at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur. Roy and Evelyn later welcomed a daughter, Susan Jeanne and two sons, James Kent and Mark Donovan. While raising her family and enjoying her grandchildren, Evelyn continued her teaching at Decatur Public School until her retirement in 1985.

Evelyn was an accomplished artist and painter and enjoyed music and writing as well. While most comfortable at home, Evelyn loved to travel with her husband and family. She was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the F. O. E. Auxiliary in Onawa, Iowa, and the N. E. A. (Nebraska Education Assoc.) during her teaching career.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy and two brothers, Harold and Arthur McCluskey.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Bill Houck of Decatur; sons and daughter-in-law: Jim and Karen of Omaha, Nebraska, Mark of Onawa; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Marion and Eva McCluskey of Tekamah, Nebraska; as well as a loving extended family of nieces, nephews and in-laws.

FUNERAL MASS: Monday, June 2, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur, Nebraska.

VISITATION: The Family will receive friends Sunday, June 1, 2008, 3 - 6 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. Wake Service all at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation will also be held Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, Nebraska
