Dana R. Monson 1972 ~ 2010 |
|
DANA RENE (HART) MONSON, 38 years, was born March 8, 1972, in Fremont, Nebraska to Stan and Cheryl (Eckhart) Hart. She passed away on March 23, 2010 at her home in rural Craig, Nebraska after a long battle. She labored to stay alive every day since having been diagnosed with cancer in 2007. Her struggle was marked with many joyous moments. Dana continually amazed her caretakers with her bravery and stoic humor in the face of relentless pain. In June of 2009 chemotherapy and radiation treatments were ended as counterproductive. Hospice workers took over her care with the expectation that Dana would succumb within just a few weeks’ time. But Dana rallied and lived 10 months more to see her five children maturing. Deseray and Davidson have entered public school, Grace is learning to sew, Joseph is developing his interests in hunting and fishing and Luke is potty trained. Throughout the course of her disease, family and friends have come to Dana’s aid by generously offering prayers, gifts and even appliances to her family. Her family remains humbly grateful. There are too many angels to mention them individually, but her family wants each of them to know that their gifts are appreciated beyond measure. Dana left this world with praise on her lips and forgiveness in her heart. She remained steadfast in her Christian faith, unwavering in her belief of deliverance through a life of devotion to the principles of keeping vibrant a love for all of God’s creatures. Dana was a true believer in the Majesty of the Lord. Dana was preceded in death by her grandparents, Phil and Marge Eckhart and Richard Clausen; Uncle, Chris Eckhart. Survivors include her husband DeJay and 5 children, Deseray 17, Davidson 15, Grace 10, Joseph 8 and Luke 3; father and step-mother, Stan and Cindy Hart of Fremont; mother and step-father, Ron and Cheryl Porter of rural Scribner; grandmother, Gerri (Hart) Clausen of Fremont; 3 brothers, Shawn Hart of Lyons, Josh Hart of Fremont and Curtis Hart of Fremont; 2 sisters, Katy and Jessy Porter of Scribner; 7 nephews; 2 nieces and 1 great niece.
