DOLORES MARIE (MATYA) SCHROEDER MILLER was born to Thomas and Katherine (Browers) Matya October 2, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska.  She passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011, at the Tekamah Golden Living Center, in Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years.

Dolores graduated from Omaha North High School in 1945 after her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska.

On June 3, 1946, Dolores married Robert W. Schroeder, Sr. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Omaha.  They raised a family of twelve children on a farm south of Blair, Nebraska.  After living and farming in Herman, Nebraska for two years, they moved to Tekamah in 1972.  After the death of her first husband, Robert in 1986, she became very active at the Chatt Senior Center in Tekamah.  While volunteering at the Chatt Senior Center, she met her second husband Elwood B. Miller, whom she wed on October 8, 1993.  He passed away on January 28, 2007.

Dolores was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tekamah.

Dolores enjoyed sewing, crafting, decorating for the holidays, and collecting teddy bear memorabilia. Her love of jokes and storytelling entertained all those around her. She loved spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing cards and games, as well as, trips to the casino.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; brothers, Edward, Leo, Thomas, Raymond Matya; sisters, Monica, Rosella, Mary Magdalene; and children: Daniel and Robert Jr.

Survivors include her children, Diane Frazer of Columbus, NE, David Schroeder of Omaha, Donald and Lori Schroeder of Broken Arrow, OK, Denise and Jerry Dick of Blair,  Ronald Schroeder of Tekamah, Debra and Lester Campbell, Jr. of Crescent, IA; Mary and Kelly Ducheneaux of Tekamah,  Mark and Carmen Schroeder of Lincoln, NE, Margaret and Chris Carlson of Tekamah,  Marti and Kurt Potadle of Herman; 31 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Angeline Henderson of Grants Pass, OR, Shirley Mentzer of MO, Mary Ann and Emilio Rindone of Omaha; sister-in-law: Joan Schroeder of Vermillion, SD.

MEMORIAL MASS: Friday, June 3, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tekamah, Nebraska.

MEMORIAL GATHERINE : Thursday, June 2, 2011, 7 - 8 P.M. with a 7:30 p.m. VIGIL SERVICE all at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tekamah.

BURIAL: Blair Cemetery, Blair, Nebraska.
