L. DALE MCALLISTER was born November 24, 1927 on a farm west of Lyons, Nebraska, the son of Andrew Jack and Erma K. (Gilbert) McAllister.. He died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, Nebraska. Dale graduated from Tekamah High School in 1945. He served in the Army from 1946 to 1947 and the Naval Reserve in years following. Dale married Shirley Ellenberger in October of 1950. They moved to a farm near Craig, Nebraska in the spring of 1954 and lived there for 51 years before moving back to Tekamah. He was an avid sportsman and received many honors for his excellent marksmanship in trap shooting. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening and numerous other outdoor activities. Memberships included the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, American Legion LaFrenz Post No. 15, Masonic Lodge #31 A.F. & A.M, Tangier Shrine Club, Nebraska York Rite of Freemasonry and Order of Eastern Star. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Jack McAllister, Jr., and an infant daughter Lori. Survivors include wife Shirley of Tekamah; sons and daughters-in-law: Mike and Susan McAllister of Tekamah, Tim and Deb McAllister of Fairbury; sister and brother-in-law: Jo and Jerry Hayden of Valliant, Oklahoma; grand-children: Dr. Charles McAllister of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Jennifer and Jim Flak of New York City, Cristy McAllister of Lincoln and Jake McAllister of Fairbury. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Monday, July 7, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah with Military Honors byVFW Bataan Post No. 3304 and American Legion LaFrenz Post No. 15.
