Marjorie Joann Lydick Dillon

MARJORIE JOANN LYDICK DILLON was born January 13, 1928, to Stanley and Arlene (Harney) Titus on their farm in Rural Craig, Nebraska, She passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years.

Joann grew up on a farm south of Craig, Nebraska, attending school in Craig and graduating from Craig High School in 1945. She was always proud of being a Craig Wolf alum and attended many class reunions.

On May 3, 1946, in Craig, Joann married Orin J. Lydick of rural Tekamah. The couple made their home in Arizona Township. They enjoyed dancing, playing cards, especially bridge, and boating at Lydick’s Lake, the Missouri River and in the Lake of the Ozarks. In 1968, the couple built a new home on Lydick Farm. Orin died on Jan. 14, 1971.

Joann married Don Dillon of Los Angeles, CA, on Jan. 28, 1996, in Los Angeles. The couple made their home in Tekamah but enjoyed traveling, making a special trip to Ireland in 2003 for Joann’s 75th birthday. They also attended family events in California, Oregon and Colorado.

Ever the bridge player, Joann belonged to several area bridge clubs and often came home “high” for the day, a fact of which she was very proud. She also enjoyed antiques and, with Don, owned and operated stores in Craig and Tekamah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orin Lydick; and infant great-granddaughter, Lia Sophia DiGiacomo.

Survivors include husband, Don of Tekamah; daughters, Linda (Don) DiGiacomo and Lisa (Joe) Klosner all of Omaha, NE, Candy (John) Chatt of Coos Bay, OR; sons, Wally (Beverly) Lydick and O.J. Lydick all of Tekamah; ten grandchildren, Mike (Erin) DiGiacomo and Dominic (Megan) DiGiacomo all of Omaha, Jaclyn (Chris) Oltmans and Chance Lydick all of Chicago, IL, Airen (Renell) Lydick and Kelly Lydick all of Seattle, WA, Marcy (Matt) Thorp of Portland, OR, Melanie Chatt, Salt Lake City, UT, Hope and Paige Lydick of Tekamah; five great-grandchildren, Bayla and Ryden Thorp, Sayler Nacke, Greyson DiGiacomo and Gianna DiGiacomo.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, May 27, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah, Nebraska

VISITATION: Thursday, May 26, 2011, 1 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 - 7 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation Friday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Tekamah Cemetery.
