Vera H. Loseke

1909 ~ 2006

 

Vera Loseke was born April 1, 1909 in Colfax County, Nebraska, to Robert C. and Alma (Loseke) Welch. She passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at the Cottonwood House Assisted Living in Columbus, Nebraska, at the age of 97 years.

Vera was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Shell Creek) in rural Columbus, Nebraska. She attended school at District No. 8 in Colfax County.

On April 3, 1929, Vera and Walter A. Loseke were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They farmed north of Richland, Nebraska, until 1985, when they moved to Columbus.  Walter passed away on December 25, 1989.

Vera was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Ladies Aid in Columbus, St. John’s Ladies Aid and the 20th Century Club.

She enjoyed playing cards, ceramic and quilting.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; an infant daughter; son-in-law, Donald Everett; infant great granddaughter, Jennifer Prazan; sisters, Maggie Mackenstedt, and Annie Bridges; brother, Walter Welch.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Lou Ann Everett of Columbus, Katherine and John Louden of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Jeanette (Ed) Sitzman, Mary (Dan) Cerny, David (Connie) Everett, Kurt (Cindy) Everett, Carolyn (Monty) Koch, Beth (Brad) Dush, Amy (Dwayne) Prazan; fifteen great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; eight step-great great grandchildren; sister: Mable Kaspar of Schuyler, Nebraska and sister-in-law: Ruby Akers of Ashland, Nebraska

FUNERAL SERVICE:  Saturday, August 19, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Shell Creek), rural Columbus, Nebraska.

BURIAL:  Calvary Cemetery, rural Columbus.

VISITATION:  Friday, August 18, 2006, 4 – 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will also be held on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.

MEMORIALS:  Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbus and St. John’s Lutheran Church (Shell Creek) Memorial Fund
