MARION LEROY LOFTIS was born July 30, 1917, to Bert Nels and Effie Grace (Gilliam) Loftis in the rural Herman area. He passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 90 years. Marion attended Herman School and graduated from Herman High School on May 17, 1934. On October 9, 1941, Marion married Gladys Christoffersen in Blair, Nebraska. Marion was engaged in farming with his dad, Bert, in the Alder Grove neighborhood south of Craig. He also worked for the ASCS Office for several years throughout his life. They retired from farming and moved to Tekamah in 1983. Marion was a very dedicated member of the Alder Grove United Methodist Church and mowed the church lawn for a number of years. He also helped with activities at Tekamah United Methodist Church. Marion was a volunteer at Tekamah Recycling Center on Saturdays and was a board member of the Chatt Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred French and granddaughter: Juliann Gatzemeyer. Survivors include his wife of 66 years: Gladys, Tekamah; two daughters, sons-in-law and five grandchildren: Donna and Robert Gatzemeyer of Tekamah, (Annette, Andrea and Aaron) Linda and Wayne Nelsen of Blair, Nebraska, (Timothy and Duane). Marion and Gladys are also blessed with six great grandchildren. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, May 31, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at the Alder-Grove United Methodist Church, rural Craig, Nebraska. VISITATION: Friday, May 30, 2008, 1- 8 p.m., family receiving friends from 5 - 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. PRAYER SERVICE all at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation will also be held Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. BURIAL: Tekamah Cemetery, Tekamah, Nebraska. MEMORIALS: Donor's Choice
