NORMA JEAN LITEL was born November 26, 1923, on a farm three miles southeast of Herman, Nebraska, to Frank and Orpha (Kohler) Kelly. She passed away in the morning of Friday, June 17, 2011, at Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years.

Norma attended country school by the Missouri River east of Tekamah and then attended Tekamah High School.

On July 23, 1941, Norma married Harold Litel in Los Angeles, California. The following year, they moved back to farm east of Tekamah where they lived until 1985, when she moved into town.

Norma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tekamah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Litel; brother, Jack Kelly; sister, Mary Jones; and son, Jerry Litel.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Litel of Kansas City, Kansas; sons, Robert Litel (Diane), Jeffrey Litel (Brenda) all of Tekamah; four grandchildren Laura Lea Mittlestadt of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly Ray Marr of Kansas City, KS, Joeseph Litel of Mondamin, IA, Laura Jean Briggs of Omaha, NE; three great grandchildren; brother, John Kelly of Valley, Nebraska  and sister, Shirley Hiffernan of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

FUNERAL SERVICE:Wednesday, June 22, 2011, 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah.

VISITATION: Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 6 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah. Visitation Wednesday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
