LORIN ROBERT LIPPS, 90 years, of Tekamah, NE died Thursday, October 13, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah. He was born February 3, 1921, in Sterling, NE to Thomas Grant Lipps and Mathilda Meine Schmidt Lipps. Lorin was baptized February 27, 1921, and confirmed April 15, 1936, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sterling. Lorin went to Sunny Side Country School through the eighth grade. He attended high school for two years in Sterling but graduated from Tekamah High School in 1939 after his family moved from Sterling to Tekamah. On December 8, 1945, he married Ione Lillian Lindstrom at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland, NE. They had two children Clark and Anita. Lorin farmed all his adult life until he retired. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah and was on the church council for nine years. He served on the board of Arizona Center District 3, the Burt County Drainage District and the ASC. He was a charter member of the Tekamah J C’s and of the Northridge Country Club and belonged to the Tekamah Lion’s Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mathilda Lipps; his in-laws, Gustaf and Hulda Lindstrom and his older brother, Paul Lipps. Survivors are his wife, Ione Lipps; son, Clark Lipps and lady friend Chris Swope all of Tekamah; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Jim Stratman of Elkhorn, NE; two brothers, Roy Lipps of North Fort, Meyers, FL and Wayne Lipps and wife, Rita, of Tekamah; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Elfie Nelson, Vincent Lindstrom, Betty and Chuck Rogers and Marlene Lindstrom all of Oakland; many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, October 17, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. VISITATION WITH FAMILY RECEIVING FRIENDS: Sunday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah.
