Elaine E. Konecky

1922 ~ 2011

 

ELAINE ELOISE (DRUMMOND) KONECKY was born November 14, 1922, on a farm near Lyons, Nebraska, to Earl and Jennie (Ruhe) Drummond. She passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years.

Elaine graduated from Lyons High School in 1940. She attended Wayne State College for one year and then taught country schools. 

On January 24, 1945, Elaine was united in marriage to Edward Konecky at Rapid City, South Dakota. To this union two children were born, Paul in 1945 and David in 1947. Due to the Rh factor, David died suddenly. When Paul graduated from high school, Elaine went to Dana College at night and graduated cum laude. She taught school at Divide Center, Lyons and Oakland for many years.

Elaine loved playing classical music on the piano and she loved planting many flowers, especially, iris.

Elaine was a member of the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; son, David; sister, Ethel Gugini; brothers, Harold, Donald and Eldon Drummond.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Patsy Konecky of Columbus, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Trish (Jonathan) Russon of Tulare, California,  Trent (Jennifer) Konecky of Lincoln, Nebraska; four great grandchildren, Noella Russon of Tulare, Lauren Konecky of Lincoln, Tristan and James Russon also of Tulare; brother,  Harry  Drummond of Blair; sister, LaVerne Knecht also of Blair.

MEMORIAL MASS: Friday, January 21, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, 2005 Davis Dr., Blair, NE, 68008.

ROSARY: Thursday, January 20, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah.

BURIAL: Tekamah Cemetery
