OREN ALBERT KNIGHT, JR. was born September 10, 1936, in Tekamah, Nebraska, to Oren and Elizabeth (Shafer) Knight. He passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair, Nebraska, at the age of 73 years.

When he was five years old, Oren’s family moved to California, where he started school. They then moved to Herman, Nebraska, where he attended school until the eleventh grade.

On July 24, 1955, Oren married Alice Arlene Miller at Omaha, Nebraska.  Together, they raised four children, Greg, Chuck, Tammie and Kim.

Oren worked at the Nebraska Furniture Mart for twenty years before moving to Tekamah, where he worked at Sharlo Homes as a purchasing agent and then as plant manager.

He spent his spare time farming with his friends, raising chicken and hogs. He was an expert mushroom hunter, loved boating on the river, bowling and shuffle board.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oren Sr.             

Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Knight of Omaha, wife, Alice of Tekamah; daughters, Kim Nelsen and Tammie Ferris of Tekamah; sons, Greg (Susan) Knight of Papillion, Chuck Knight of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Sharon (Bob) Anthony of Tahlequah, Oklahoma,  Pat (Roger) Maroney of Omaha.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, October 12, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Family Baptist Church in Tekamah.

VISITATION: Sunday 4 - 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Prayer Service all at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation Monday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
