Ramon G. Johnson

1940 ~ 2011

 

 

RAMON GEORGE JOHNSON was born August 4, 1940, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Harold and Fern (Wagner) Johnson. He passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011, at his home in rural Craig, Nebraska, at the age of 70 years.

Ramon graduated from Craig High School in 1958.  He served in the US Army from 1965-1969.  After his service, he was a member of the Craig Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years and was also a long time member of the American Legion Post No 127 and served as Adjutant.

On February 17, 1967, Ramon married Ursula Schmidt in Idar Oberstein, Germany.

Ramon retired from Smeal manufacturing in 2003 and began raising Peafowl and Fainting Goats.  Along with his great sense of humor, he will be remembered for his love of traveling to exotic animal auctions.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and over the years raised a variety of other livestock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Merle and sister in-law, Shirley.

Survivors include his wife Ursula, three sons and daughters in-law, Randy and Sheila Frye of Omaha, Nebraska, Andy and  Deb Johnson of North Bend, Nebraska,  Troy and Kari Johnson of Howells, Nebraska; three daughters, Tami Kelly of Ainsworth, Nebraska, Sonja Tal of Germany and Jacqueline Whitt of Alaska; brother, Roger Johnson of Craig,  sister in-law, Ann Johnson of Oakland; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Wednesday, February 16, 2011, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, Craig.  

BURIAL: Craig Cemetery, with Military Honors by American Legion Post No. 127
