Anne M. Johnson

1918 ~ 2009

 

ANNE MARIE JOHNSON was born February 10, 1918, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Anton and Ellen (Nelson) Martin. She passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland, at the age of 91 years.

Anne attended school at Rural District 53, Oakland High School, and Omaha School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska.

On Nov. 23, 1944 Anne married Earl (Bud) Johnson of Oakland in Lincoln, Nebraska while he was on leave during WWII.  They were involved in farming in the Oakland area and she moved to Oakland in 1961. After 26 years of service, she retired from the Oakland Farmers Coop.

Anne was a life-long active member of the First Lutheran Church, sang in the choir and belonged to LCW, Lutheran Church Women. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she was the treasurer for over 30 years. Anne was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and the treasurer for the Tree of Love for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Earl (Bud) Johnson in 1960.

Survivors include her sons, Jim (Claudia) Johnson of Littleton, CO, Rick (Sue) Johnson of Centennial, CO;  daughter, Mary (Larry) Johnson of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Palmer of Wilmington, DE, Ruth Eastman of Denver, CO, Dorothy Bruegman of Lincoln, NE; brother, Bob (Lavonne) Martin of Oakland, NE.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 2, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland.

HONORARY CASKET BEARERS: Her Grandchildren: Stephanie Johnson, Ross Johnson, Brett Johnson, Chad Johnson, Rachael Worth Cooley, Wally Worth and Great Grandson, Parker Johnson.

NO VISITATION

BURIAL: Oakland Cemetery at a later date.
