Family and friends gather to celebrate the life and joy of our husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle.
Gerald Victor Jensen died April 16, 2010 in the hope of his soon coming Savior. Although seldom treated by doctors for illness, he died recovering from heart surgery.
Gerald was born across the road from his current home, on his grandparents’ farm in the Silver Creek township. His young parents were Hans Victor and Jessie (Mullikin) Jensen. His younger sister, Helen (Jensen) Gibb grew up here and now lives in Whittier, California. He enjoyed hearing about his nieces and nephew and their families. Helen and Gerald had regular Friday evening phone conversations.
As a young student he rode his pony to Riverside School. He and many cousins enjoyed church and young people’s meetings at the rural Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
He met Frances Marine while in high school. After graduation she worked in Omaha at Mutual of Omaha for a year. She rode the train home on weekends.
The sweethearts married November 19, 1944. Several years later they bought the Lan Eaton farm and homestead. This is still their home. Their two children were raised there.
Son, Victor L. Jensen and wife Marlys live one mile away. They and their five children are active community members.
Daughter, Karan Ann Bennett and her husband Wayne live in Berrier Springs, Michigan. Their four children live close by in the Chicago area.
Family including 12 great grandchildren and 14 great grand nieces and nephews were central to Gerald’s thinking and prayers. Through the years he was an active church layman and elder.
He was 4-H Club leader for years. He was an organizing member of the annual rodeo and chairman of the rodeo queen committee. He served on the township board and election board.
He and Frances drove to Sutton, Nebraska several years for Darren and Kaden’s school celebration of Grandparents’ Day. He often wished he could also drive to Michigan for other grandchildren’s celebrations.
He is survived by wife, Frances Ann (Marine); daughter, Karan (Wayne) Bennett; son, Victor L. (Marlys Sivertson); grandchildren (great grandchildren), Kris and James Proctor (Adam, Bethany and Emma), Jared Bennett (Nathan), Joel and Jocelyn Bennett (Adaliah), Joshua and Kessia Bennett, Kami and Doug Brinkerhoff (Darren and Kaden), Kari and Dave Hanneman (Gracie and Dillon), Karla and Mike Bascom (Eliana and Angelina), Justin and Jill Jensen (Marissa May), Jay Jensen; sister, Helen Gibb; nieces and nephews, Ann Rogers, Gay Foster, Bob Gibb, Heidi Daniel, and their precious spouses, children and grandchildren.
