JOHN HUSAR, JR., 72 years, of Oakland, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010, as a result of a boating accident at the Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area in Fremont, Nebraska. John was born July 18, 1937 in Binghamton, NY. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1955 and retired September 30, 1975. While in the military, he served tours of duty in Korea and Thailand during the Vietnam War. He also served temporary tours in Cyprus, Hawaii, England, and Germany. Husar was also stationed in England, Germany, Florida, New York, Virginia, and Maryland. While in Maryland, Husar served the military at the Pentagon. His final assignment was to serve as the communications director at the Elkhorn Communications Division in Nebraska. After retiring in 1975, John worked in several fields before establishing his own photography business in Oakland, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his first wife, MaryAnn; and their eldest son, Michael. Michael’s son, Ryan and wife, Martha, of Fremont survive along with his other four children and their families, Ted Husar of Fremont (wife, Jeanie, daughter, Katie), Mark Husar of Iowa (sons, T.J., Beau, and Michael), Janine Husar of Lincoln (fiancé, Jeff Wallingford), Kim Clausen of Fremont (son, Scotty); two great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Husar Of Illinois (wife, Sue). John remarried Sandra Testa, of Oakland, on February 10, 1990. He is also survived by his wife, Sandy and her three daughters, Jackie Marshall of Illinois (husband, Joel, son Colin, and daughter, Alyssa) Marsha Sampson of Fremont (husband, Jared, sons, London and Colby), Michelle Dutton of Lincoln (husband, Jim, daughters, Kaelyn, Maddie, and Emily). MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, April 24, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland, Nebraska. MILITARY HONORS: American Legion Post No. 46 and Ryan VFW Post No. 5543, Oakland PRAYER SERVICE: Friday, April 23, 2010, 7:00 p.m., at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. BURIAL: Private Family Burial at a later date. MEMORIALS may be directed to the family to benefit The Midwest Dive Team, Fremont Fire and Rescue and American Red Cross.
