JOHN LESTER HANSEN was born May 1, 1920, in rural Tekamah to Mads G. and Mary M. (Steinkruger) Hansen. He passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008, at his home in rural Tekamah, at the age of 88 years. John graduated from Tekamah High School in 1939. On November 22, 1941, John married Gladys Olson. He was inducted in U.S. Army on March 23, 1942 and served with the 54th Air Service Squadron, 14th Air Force until his honorable discharge on November 2, 1945. Following his discharge, John returned to Tekamah, where they farmed for over sixty years. Gladys passed away on November 29, 2002. John was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. John's hobby was woodworking, from building houses, including a vacation home in the Ozarks, to furniture and segmented wood turning. His life was dedicated to his loving wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys; son, John; and brother, Lake. Survivors include his children: Sherie (Bill) Lamme' of Omaha, Kristie (Gordon) Husk of Blair and Kevin (Susan) Hansen of Tekamah; four grandchildren; brothers: Norman of Ozark, Missouri, Leon of Dallas, Oregon; sisters: Sharlan Bailey of Columbus, Nebraska, Marjorie Duncan of Hawaii. FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah, Nebraska. MILITARY HONORS: VFW Bataan Post No. 3304 and American Legion LaFrenz Post No. 15 will be held at the church. BURIAL: Tekamah Cemetery, Tekamah, Nebraska MEMORIAL VISITATION: Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS: To the Family
