JERRY WAYNE HANKINS was born to Wayne and Rosella (Ostrand)) Hankins on June 13, 1954, at Oakland, Nebraska. He passed away Friday, March 13, 2009, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska after a lingering illness with leukemia. He was 54 years of age.

He grew up with his family on a farm east of Lyons and went to Divide Center School and then went to Lyons High School where he graduated in 1972. Jerry belonged to Divide Center Church with his family.

After graduation from high school, Jerry got a job with Burlington Northern Railroad, where he was a railroad track inspector and worked at Burlington Northern for 35 years.

Jerry is preceded in death by a brother Kevin in 1964.

Jerry is survived by his parents: Wayne and Rosella Hankins; brother: Bruce Hankins; brother and sister-in-law: Brian and Karen Hankins; sister: Marla Hankins and Steve Rohnke; all of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister: Cindy Anderson of Dixon, Missouri, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew and cousins.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, March 17, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lyons.

VISITATION: Monday 1 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons and Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Lyons Cemetery
