RICHARD GROTHE was born August 18, 1915 in rural Craig, Nebraska to Harry and Mae (Kanel) Grothe, Sr. He passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the West Point Living Center in West Point, Nebraska, at the age of 93 years.

Richard graduated from Uehling High School.

On June 23, 1950, Richard and Donna Sears were united in marriage in Omaha, Nebraska.

Richard was a life-long farmer, farming south west of Craig.  In later years, they made their home in Lyons, Nebraska. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Harry and Earl; infant sister: Margaret.

Survivors include his wife: Donna of Lyons; nephews and nieces: Jim (Carole) Grothe, Herb (Nancy) Grothe all of Omaha, Nebraska, Tom Grothe of Columbia, Missouri; Rita Debman of Bentonville, Arkansas, Barbara (Dwight) Wright of Seattle, Washington, Pat (Carol) Sears of Logan, Iowa, Robin Stake of Seattle, Washington, Kelly (Ann) Sears of Ankeny, Iowa, Duane (Sharon) Sears of Berkley, California, Gary (Diane) Sears of Lakewood, Colorado; Karen Jean (Gary) Clark of Logan, Iowa.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  Saturday, November 29, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons, Nebraska.

VISITATION:  Friday, November 28 , 2008, 2 – 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 – 7 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons and Saturday one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL:  Craig Cemetery, Craig, Nebraska

MEMORIALS:  Lyons Fire and Rescue
