DONNA VERN GROTHE was born March 5, 1926, on the family farm near Logan, Iowa to Orville J. and Maude E. (Davis) Sears. She passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, at her home in Lyons, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years.

Donna attended country school near Logan.

On June 23, 1950, Donna and Richard Grothe were united in marriage in Omaha, Nebraska. They farmed southwest of Craig, Nebraska, for many years. In later years, they made their home in Lyons.
She was preceded in death by his parents; husband, Richard on November 25, 2008.

Survivors include her brothers, George (Beverly) Sears of Logan, Iowa, Albert (Lou) Sears of Ankeny, Iowa; nephews and nieces, Jim (Carole) Grothe, Herb (Nancy) Grothe all of Omaha, Nebraska, Tom Grothe of Columbia, Missouri; Rita Debnam of Bentonville, Arkansas, Barbara (Dwight) Wright of Seattle, Washington, Pat (Carol) Sears of Logan, Iowa, Robin Stake of Seattle, Washington, Kelly (Ann) Sears of Ankeny, Iowa, Duane (Sharon) Sears of Berkley, California, Gary (Diane) Sears of Lakewood, Colorado; Karen Jean (Gary) Clark of Logan, Iowa.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons.

VISITATION:Tuesday 1 - 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 - 7 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons. Visitation Wednesday will be held one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Craig Cemetery, Craig, Nebraska
