Francis W. Furneisen was born May 26, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Walter & Alice (Luchetta) Furneisen. He passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Ocala, Florida. He graduated in 1961 from Central High School in Pennington, NJ. Frank served in the Coast Guard from 1961 to 1966. It was during his stint in the Coast Guard that he was injured in a screen door mishap. During his hospital stay, he met a lovely young dietician named Barbara Anderson, originally of Oakland, Nebraska. Frank married Barb on April 16, 1966 in Trenton, NJ. To this couple two children were born: Bob in 1972 and Kerstin in 1976.Frank’s evolving career with A T & T brought the couple to Fremont, Nebraska in 1971. The family moved to Mound, MN in 1986 in an A T & T transfer. Frank was preceded in death by his father and beloved wife, Barb in 1990. Survivors include his son: Bob & Jill (Frahm) Furneisen and two grandchildren, Ellie Barbara and Thomas Anders of Buffalo, Minnesota: daughter: Kerstin Furneisen of Robinsdale, Minnesota; mother: Alice Furneisen of Ocala, Florida; sister: Alice of New Jersey; mother-in-law: Doris Anderson of Oakland, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Eileen (Bob) Wright of Omaha, Nebraska, Carole (Gene) Johnson, Jane (Bob) Moseman and Laurie (Dave) Schold all of Oakland; seven nephews and two nieces. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, March 21, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland, Nebraska. BURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS: Oakland Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post No. 46 and Ryan VFW Post No. 5543. VISITATION: Saturday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
