Ethel A. Enstrom

1928 ~ 2011

 

ETHEL ANN ENSTROM was born April 6, 1928, to Holger and Anna (Wiese) Madsen in rural Cuming County, Nebraska. She passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont, Nebraska, at the age of 82 years.

Ethel was raised on a farm west of Uehling, Nebraska. She attended school at Dist. No. 68 in Cuming County and graduated from Scribner High School in 1945. She attended Wayne State College to pursue her teaching degree. She taught in Dodge and Burt County for ten years.

On October 1, 1949, Ethel married Leland Enstrom at the West Side Methodist parsonage. To this union three children were born, Carol, Lonny and Steven. The family farmed in Burt and Cuming County for many years.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Hooper, where she taught Sunday School and also sang in the church choir for several years. She was also a member of West Side United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leland in July 2010; son, Steven; sisters, Norma Roemer, Mary Woerman, Dora Bettenhausen; brother, Howard Madsen; two grandchildren, Lynn and Jeremy.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Harold Lindstrom; son and daughter-in-law, Lon and Denise Enstrom all of Oakland; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother- and sisters-in-law, Claire and Ardis Enstrom of Gretna, Nebraska, Viola Enstrom of Oakland.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, April 2, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Oakland.

VISITATION: Friday 1 -8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will be held Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Westside Cemetery, rural Oakland
