HARVEY DEAN DYE was born July 27, 1933, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Glenn E. and Nettie V. (Carlson) Dye. He passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska, at the age of 76 years. Harvey attended school in Hooper, Nebraska. He entered the U. S. Army on July 13, 1953, serving in Korea with the 8038th Engr Map Repro Det Apo 301 and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1955. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Services Medal and Korean Service Medal. Harvey was a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 5543, American Legion Post No. 46 in Oakland and the Disabled American Veterans. He married Kay Carson on August 11, 1961. They later divorced. Harvey enjoyed time with his grandchildren, fishing, camping, tinkering around his shop and arguing politics with his son. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Lee Dye. Survivors include his son, Chuck of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Barb Dye of Fremont, Nebraska; two grandsons, Justin of Bellevue and Jonathan of Fremont; brother, Robert of Dodge, Nebraska FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, March 9, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland, Nebraska MILITARY HONORS: Ryan VFW Post No. 5543 and American Legion Post No. 46 BURIAL: Craig Cemetery, Craig, Nebraska VISITATION: Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
