SHARON KAY DENTON, 67 years, of Oakland, Nebraska, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 15, 2012, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, after a short illness surrounded by her loving children and best friend.

Sharon was born June 9, 1944, in Oakland, Nebraska. She graduated from Oakland High School, Class of ‘62. Sharon was a wonderful mother and great inspiration to her children. She was a long time employee at the Oakland Heights Nursing Home, where she took great pleasure in connecting with and providing comfort to the residents. She was very dedicated to helping others in difficult situations. Her compassion and selflessness will be missed by many.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Donald and Julia Denton and grandchildren, Elijah and Abigail Denton of Lincoln NE; daughter, Stephanie Sundquist and grandchildren, Jennifer and Ty Sundquist of Fremont; companion, Maurice Johnson of Oakland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Sharon Denton of Omaha, Nebraska, Jerry and Susie Denton of Norfolk, Nebraska, Thomas and Sandy Denton of West Point, NE; sister and brother-in-law, Neil and Donna Lesley of Omaha and sister, Patricia Gatewood. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Lola (Schlotfeldt) Denton.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 21, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland.
