MELVIN DELBERT CRISS was born to Bernard and Hilda (Asmann) Criss, April 26,1934 at Lincoln General Hospital. He passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Logan Valley Nursing Home in Lyons, Nebraska.
 
Melvin graduated from Winnebago High School in 1954. On February 22, 1964 he married Beverly Jean Fiscus in Walthill.  They farmed around the Winnebago area during their marriage.  In addition to farming Melvin sprayed weeds for Dakota County for a number of years. On January 29, 1975 he married Mary Jane Rose. They lived south of Winnebago for over twenty years.
 
Melvin served in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California on the USS Uhlmann until 1957.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Arlie of Sioux City, Iowa, Kenneth of Mt. Veron, Missouri, and Bill of Homer, Nebraska.  Three sisters, Una Mae and Beth (infants), and Loretta Skow of Homer, Nebraska, and by his wife Mary Rose of Winnebago, Nebraska.
 
Survivors include one daughter: Melva Beldin and son-in-law Berry Beldin of Newcastle, Nebraska, two grandchildren, Hillary and Drew Beldin also of Newcastle; many nieces and nephews.
 
GRAVESIDE MEMORIAL SERVICE: Thursday, May 22, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, Nebraska.

MILITARY HONORS: Robert Klase VFW Post No. 7998 and Harvey Lenig American Legion Post No. 83.

BURIAL: Evergreen Cemetery, Walthill, Nebraska
