Anthony “Tony” John Costanzo was born October 24, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Anthony “Bull” and Myrtle (Hansen) Costanzo. He passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Tony was 66 years young when he passed, following a five-year struggle with heart failure. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Anthony proudly served in the US Army from 1967 to 1970. He was employed in the food industry, working for many years at Rotella Bakery in Omaha. Tony was proud to work for Rotella's, often bringing samples of his "work" home for Craig people to enjoy. Tony was a gun enthusiast and collector. He enjoyed target shooting, hunting, and reloading his own ammunition. Even though he liked to hunt, Tony was a true animal lover, often bringing treats to his friends' and neighbors' animals. Most of Tony's beloved pets were once stray animals, who perhaps sensed a kindred spirit in him. He also enjoyed rural living, moving to Craig around 1998 with his friend, Arlen Lazaroff. He enjoyed traveling and camping throughout Nebraska with Arlen, while helping him research, photograph, and catalogue ghost towns. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his friend, Arlen, in 2005 Survivors include his siblings, in birth order, Marvin Costanzo, Mary Beth (Keith) Thompson, Michael (Novell) Costanzo all of Omaha, Angie Harris of Denver, Colorado and Sammy Costanzo of Omaha; 13 nieces and nephews, 23 great-nieces and -nephews. FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, September 28, 2010, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, Craig.BURIAL: Craig Cemetery, with Military Honors by American Legion Post No. 127 VISITATION: Monday, 5 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Tekamah.
