Liberty Marie Clements 1918 ~ 2010 |
|
LIBERTY MARIE CLEMENTS was born May 24, 1918, at Herman, Nebraska, to John B. and Emma (Weber) Eriksen. Liberty made her transition from this physical existence to that of spirit on Saturday, September 18, 2010. She was a gentle soul who had 92 years of life as we know it, never complaining and seeing the best in all situations. We learned so much from her. She will be missed by many and never forgotten. Liberty attended New England grade school and graduated from Herman High School in 1935. She attended Wayne Normal College and taught at the Thone School in Washington County and Fairview School in Burt County. On Christmas Eve 1936, Liberty and Ervin Clements were united in marriage. To this union were born three sons, James Joseph, Robert Ervin and Bernard Lee. Liberty was a homemaker and besides her family, her next love was baseball – often keeping the box scores while listening to the game on the radio. She and Ervin spent their Saturday nights at dances or playing cards with friends. After Ervin retired, they spent many hours riding in a wagon pulled by their mules, Fluff and Bess. Liberty was a member of the Herman Methodist Church, Echo Extension Club and Tri-County Saddle Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Evelyn Eriksen; brother-in-law, Adolph Svoboda and daughter-in-law, Genelle Clements. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Frances of Decatur, Nebraska, Bob of Tekamah, Bernie and Joan of Herman; nine grandchildren, Greg (Norma) Clements of Big Piney, Wyoming, Dr. Tanis (Dr. Chris) Reyburn of Ketchum, Idaho, Cathy (Mark) Bates of Annandale, Virginia, Brad (Val) Clements and Corey (Kim) Clements of Omaha, Nebraska, Rich (Beth) Clements of West Salem, Wisconsin, Heidi (Ron) Johansen, Dr. Eric (Julie) Clements and Adam Clements all of Omaha; thirteen great grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Svoboda of Copperas Cove, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
