BARBARA JEAN CHURCH was born December 28, 1942, in Yankton, South Dakota to Arthur and Rose Mary (Ostrander) Ackerman. She passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009, at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont, Nebraska, at the age of 66 years.

Barb attended school in Mission Hill, South Dakota.

On November 2, 1963, Barbara married Eugene Church. To this union five children were born. Barb worked caring for her family and caring for others at the Logan Valley Manor and Oakland Heights for twenty years.

Barb loved life. She was able to make you laugh, but definitely tell you what she thought. She loved spending time with her grandkids and also with her friends. She also loved to sit in her driveway and look at the beautiful view with her dog and cat at her side.

The word to best describe Mom “Barb” would be AWESOME! She always put others first before herself and always told us, “Life is what you make of it!”

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene; and dear friend, Leroy “Jack” Rosenboom.

Survivors include her children, Calvin, Teresa, Patty, Jeannine and Scott; stepson, Russell; stepdaughter, Debbie;   9  grandchildren: Jeramie, Shelby, Melissa, Amanda, Ira, Aaron, Brianna, Ismiel and Angel; great grandson, RyLee; sisters, Ruth Ann and Sharon; many cousins and friends.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 2, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland.

VISITATION: Saturday one hour prior to the service
