MYRON ALLEN CHRISTENSEN, widower of Ruth, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born December 3, 1917, to Fred and Louise (Hansen) Christensen at the family farm near Lyons, Nebraska. Myron attended school at Rural District 52, Oakland High School, Dana College, and the University of Nebraska. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps becoming an Aircraft Commander of a B-29. He flew 33 missions over Japan during World War II, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters. On December 24, 1942, Myron married Ruth Lyksett, of Hudson, Wisconsin, at Randolph Field post chapel near San Antonio, Texas. Following his discharge, Myron and Ruth returned to Nebraska, raising a family of four children. He farmed, owned an International Harvester implement business, was elected as Burt County Clerk, and ended his career as the Postmaster at Oakland, Nebraska. Myron’s civic service included the United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Oakland School Board, Oakland Housing Authority, Burt County Supervisor, NE Area Agency on Aging, the VFW, and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by wife, Ruth; daughter, Annabelle; three brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include: his daughter, Mary Lou and Stan Patzel, son, John and Mary Christensen all of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Laura Christensen and Don Hitz of Denton, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine and E.J. Appleby of Scribner; sister-in-law, Melva Christensen of Oakland; nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Friday, September 18, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Oakland. BURIAL: Grace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Craig, Nebraska, with Military Honors by Ryan VFW Post No. 5543 and American Legion Post No. 46. NO VISITATION MEMORIALS:
