ROXANNE ROSE (NELSON) CARLSON was born May 13, 1950, to Sam and Gertrude (Minnich) Nelson in Stewartville, Minnesota. In 1953 following the death of her mother, Roxanne and two of her brothers were adopted by her uncle and aunt, Clarence and Viola Nelson of Kimballton, Iowa. Roxanne passed away in her sleep on Sunday, April 6, 2008, at her home in Lyons, Nebraska, at the age of 57 years.

Roxanne grew up in Kimballton, where she graduated from high school. She attended Grace University in Omaha for two years.

On August 15, 1975, Roxanne and Delwin Carlson of rural Rosalie were united in marriage in Kimballton. They resided on a farm until 1994, when they moved into Lyons. To this union one daughter, Larissa, was born.

Roxanne’s world revolved around her work at Logan Valley Manor for the past twenty years as the Activity Director. Another passion led Roxanne into clowning. Following her graduation from Clown College, she joined Life for Christ Circus.

Roxanne was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Oakland. She was also a member of the Lyons Quilters Guild. Roxanne had a passion for sewing, quilting, scrap booking and clowning. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandson, Sean and her soon-to-be-born grandchild.

She was preceded in death by both sets of parents; three siblings and a beloved friend, Sandy.
