JUDY ANN BISHOP

1952 ~ 2009

 

JUDY ANN (VETICK) BISHOP was born September 26, 1952, in Genoa, Nebraska, to Alvin and Lillian (Sok) Vetick. She passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Logan Valley Manor in Lyons after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 57 years.

When Judy was six weeks old, the family moved to a farm in Burt County. She attended country school at Sheridan District 66 in Washington County. The family moved to Lyons when Judy was in the eighth grade. Judy graduated from Lyons High School in 1970. She attended Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebraska. She went to work for IBP in Dakota City, Nebraska.

In 1972 she met Bill Bishop III in Missouri Valley, Iowa. On September 2, 1972, Judy and Bill were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons, Nebraska. To this union four children were born: Billy, Kathleen, Brandon and Brett.

Judy went back to school and earned her CNA. She was employed at Oakland Heights Assisted Living and NorthStar Services.

Judy enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She liked gardening, crocheting and cooking. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Vetick; mother-in-law, Lavonne Bishop and four infant grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Bill of Lyons; children, William “Bill” Bishop IV of Fremont, Nebraska, Kathleen (Steve) Freeman of Corpus Christi, Texas, Brandon (Andrea) Bishop of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Brett Bishop of West Point, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Megan, David, April, James, TJ, Josh and Jacob; mother, Lillian Vetick of Lyons; sisters, Elaine (William) Climer of Craig, Nebraska, Alvina (Dale) Yarges of Lyons; brother, Stephen (Linda) Vetick of Lyons; special friends, Paul and Joni Novak of Craig; nieces, nephews, family and friends.

FUNERAL MASS:  Monday, January 4, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons.


VISITATION:  Sunday, January 3, 4 – 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at the church. Visitation Monday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
