PHYLLIS J. BACON , 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2010 at Daytona Beach Health & Rehabilitation Center after a short illness with cancer. Phyllis was born on May 5, 1926 in Lyons, Nebraska. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Inez Brix and was predeceased by her brother Harry Brix of Redding, CA. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John Howard Bacon, whom she married February 16, 1946.
Phyllis moved from Lyons, NE to Schenectady, NY in the late 1940s and worked as a secretary at the Van Curler Hotel and Schalmont High School. She enjoyed over 40 years of summers at Sacandaga Lake in Edinburg, NY and many visits to family in Nebraska. Phyllis moved to Daytona Beach in 1980 where she was a member of the Colony Community Church, a member of TOPS and Curves, and enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and baking for her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband John Howard.
Phyllis is also survived by sons John Bacon (Kathy) of Lincoln, NE and Bruce Bacon (Lynne) of Schenectady, NY, grandchildren Jon, Connie, Tina and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Josephina, Christian, Savanna, Jacoby, Riley and Aiden.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, October 2, 2010, at 10:30 am. at the Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons, Nebraska.
